What is Yoga Therapy?

The IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) defines Yoga Therapy as “the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga.”

Yoga Therapy addresses more than just the physical concerns of an injury or condition. It addresses the physical, emotional, mental, as well as so much more to help the student learn to overcome trauma in order to find healing. The therapist teaches the student tools to bring about change in their own body and life.

I highly recommend Yoga Therapy. I did Yoga Therapy after my surgery with Jessica Mayberry and it was amazing. Jessica was very patient with me and really listened to how I felt and what I was feeling. Yoga Therapy has helped so much in my healing process. If you are thinking about this you should really give it a try. She gave me so many helpful tips that I could do at home as well as learning to breathe through anxiety attacks and noticing my anxiety triggers.

I just finished 3 Yoga Therapy sessions with Jessica and am so glad I signed up for them. I wanted to work on some specific issues and was not exactly sure what to expect. She is intuitive, observant and gives you a plan to help you meet your goals and checks in to make sure it’s working out for you. It is a very empowering process. This is definitely one of the best investments I have made and I look forward to my next sessions.
